Ben Cabango | We must earn the right to play our way against Huddersfield

Ben Cabango knows Swansea City will need to be up for the battle when they host Huddersfield Town at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday.

The Terriers are one of the league’s form teams, picking up 11 points in their past six games. It's a run which has seen them climb from 23rd, and six points from safety, to 19th.

The table is still incredibly tight, however, and the Swans know they will need to be prepared to face a side who are fighting hard to stay in the league.

“They’re on a good run and they’re fighting hard to stay up,” said Cabango.

“It’ll be a hard game, like it always in this league.

“First and foremost, we have to earn the right to play. It’ll be a battle but we’re all up for it.

“We just want to show what we’re good at which is keeping the ball and working hard for each other.”

While there is plenty at stake for the visitors, the Swans have targets of their own and Cabango says the team want to finish these last five games as strongly as possible.

The aim is to put to bed a difficult run in the early part of 2023 and provide a platform to build on for next season.

“It was a hard time because it felt like nothing was going our way and nothing was clicking,” he added.

“I think when we look back on the season, there are so many ups and downs and we’re such a young squad that hopefully going through that tough period will help us in the future.

“It took us too long to get out of it, I’m not sure why that was, but we’re looking to finish this season strongly.

“The gaffer has shown so much faith in us and given us so much courage to play the way we want to play, so we know we can do it.

“We’ve shown in the last few games that we’ve been strong defensively, and we’re scoring a lot of goals.

“I think these past few weeks have been about showing what we’re about.  We want to keep building, and giving us something to take into next season."
