Ben Lloyd joins Newport County on loan

Swansea City midfielder Ben Lloyd has signed an extension to his contract and will join Newport County on loan until January 2026.
The 20-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal through to the summer of 2027, with his previous contract having been set to expire in 2026.
The lifelong Swans fan - who has been with the club since the age of 12 - made his senior debut in the Boxing Day against Queens Park Rangers last term, and also featured in the draw against Oxford United on the final day of the season.
Lloyd - who notably scored after coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Forest Green Rovers when aged just 16 - enjoyed an excellent season for the under-21s and regularly skippered the development side.
Swansea City director of football, Richard Montague, said: “Ben is a talented young player who enjoyed an excellent 2024-25 campaign.
“We believe the chance to gain further EFL experience will be of great benefit to his development, as it was for Cameron Congreve and Joel Cotterill last season.
“As a club, we have historically enjoyed a positive relationship with Newport County, and we are pleased to continue that with Ben’s loan spell at Rodney Parade.”
