Biabi delighted with Derby goals

8th January

Botti Biabi was delighted to get back on the scoresheet in Swansea City Under-23s’ thumping 5-1 victory over Derby County on Monday.

The striker scored twice as the young Swans enjoyed a comprehensive victory that gave them three much-needed points in Premier League 2.

It was the first time since the 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the start of November that Biabi had found the back of the net.

And he was pleased to play his part in such a commanding display as the under-23s made a superb start to 2019 against the high-flying Rams.

“I’m really pleased to get a couple of goals,” said Biabi.

“As a striker, you always want to score and, if I get any opportunity, I want to try my best to put it away.

“I go into every game looking to score one goal at least, so I’m very happy with my contribution.

“The lads played really well today. We haven’t done as well as we wanted to over the past couple of games, so we knew we needed to come up with the goods here.”

Biabi has endured a stop-start 2018-19 season so far.

Whilst finding goals hard to come by, a slight tear to his abdominal muscle has also hindered the 22-year-old’s progress.

Nevertheless, with those frustrating times behind him, he is looking to kick on going into the second half of the campaign.

“I’ve had a bit of a goal drought and was desperate to end it. Thankfully, I did here," he added.

“The injury was also a difficult time for me, but these things happen and you just have to keep going.

“I’m happy to be back playing and scoring goals. Hopefully, me and the boys can push on now and get some more wins.”
