Morgan Ridler

Birmingham fixture dedicated to Morgan’s Army

1st August 2023

Swansea City’s opening day fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday, 5 August will be dedicated to Morgan Ridler and the Morgan’s Army charity.

The club was deeply saddened by the passing of Morgan in June, with his brave fight against cancer touching the hearts of everyone.

We were proud and privileged to have Morgan lead our side out against Cardiff back in April, while the courage shown by both him and his family is an inspiration to us all.

Swansea City is delighted to dedicate our opening home game of the season to such a special little boy, with several fundraising activities planned for Morgan’s Army, the charity set up by his parents, Natalie and Matthew.

The club will have Morgan’s Fan Park open at the south end of the Stadium for this fixture, with the club donating £1 to Morgan’s Army for every person who enters.

Entry will be free with a valid match ticket or season ticket.

The fan park will open at 12.30pm with a range of entertainment on display including a children’s marquee, DJ and face painters.

There will also be a big screen and a stage, with performances from the Subterrania Band and a Q+A with club ambassador Lee Trundle.

The fan park will stay open until 2.30pm with plenty of discounted food and drink options available, and will be back open after full-time until the conclusion of the Wales v England rugby international which will be shown on the big screen from 5.30pm.

Bucket collections for Morgan’s Army will be in situ around the stadium for this game, while captain Matt Grimes – who walked out with Morgan for the Cardiff game in April – will sign his match worn shirt for donation to the charity.

Please note that the usual family stand activations within the South Stand will be moved to the fan park for this fixture.

The club has engaged with the Supporters’ Trust on all activities relating to this game, and we are hugely appreciative of their support.
