Blair McKenzie was 'buzzing; to score his first goal at the Swansea.com Stadium whilst holding on to an impressive clean sheet as Swansea City Under-21s progressed to the Professional Development League quarter-finals with victory over Newcastle United.

Thomas Woodward scored an impressive solo strike to open the scoring as he drove forward before firing home emphatically. And he was also involved in the second goal, with his firm strike being tipped onto the post, with McKenzie stooping to head home the rebound.

Whilst the Swans had chances to add to their tally, they also showed good control for long periods of the game even as Newcastle sought a way back into the game but a strong defensive display from McKenzie and Iestyn Jones held on to a clean sheet.

"It was a great team performance, and we stuck to the game plan. We had a good two days building in to the game," said McKenzie.

"We executed what we worked on, and got a 2-0 win, and the boys are buzzing.

"For my goal, I had seen Woody shoot and it had come off the post and I was first to react. I probably could have tapped it in, but I scored with my head and I was buzzing when it went in.

"The more Iestyn [Jones] and I have played together, we've created a good partnership and it's a bonus we've got a clean sheet."

The 19-year-old Scotsman is coming to the end of his first season in Swans colours, and he's loving every moment in Wales since his arrival in June 2025.

"I'm really enjoying it so far, everyone in Wales is so friendly," he added.

"The boys made me settle in really well, and especially in the last half of the season, I've been playing consistently and getting better. I'm definitely settling in well."
