Blair returns to training

3rd October

Ryan Blair is on the road to recovery after breaking his foot during Swansea City Under-23s’ Premier League 2 season opener.

The midfielder returned to light training with the development squad this week following almost two months on the sidelines.

The 21-year-old suffered a fracture in his right metatarsal during the 2-0 defeat against Liverpool in August.

“I am back running on the grass which is great,” he said. “I am glad to be back out there but I still have a few weeks to go before I am fully fit and ready for match action.

“It has been frustrating to sit on the sidelines and watch all the games going on. We have had some good results and I have been gutted not be a part of them.”

The U23s face a tough schedule with five games across 21 days in October starting next Tuesday (October 10) against Newport County in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Blair concedes that game might come too soon for him but is keen to make his football return this month.

“I want to get back out there as soon as possible,” he said. “We have some big games coming up in league and cup.

“I have had quite a quick recovery and am a few weeks ahead of where I should be. So I hope to be playing again soon.”
