Blake hungry for more opportunities

30th March 2018

Matthew Blake is willing to grasp any opportunity that comes his way with Swansea City Under-23s between now and the end of the season.

Blake played the full 90 minutes at left-back as the young Swans beat Bristol City 4-2 to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup on Thursday.

It was the 18-year-old’s third appearance for the Under-23s this season, and second in this competition after he started the 5-1 victory over Colchester United in December.

Blake admits being selected is a huge confidence booster, and he is hungry for more game-time heading into the final stretch of the campaign.

“It gives me lots of confidence knowing that they’re willing to pick me and put trust in me to play,” he said. “I’m just looking to play as much as I can between now and the end of the season.

“There aren’t many games left but, hopefully, I can be with the under-23s as often as possible.

“Whether that is in the league or cup, or even in training, it will all help me to improve.”
