Britton: Let's build on "massive win"

27th December

Leon Britton insists the Swans must build on their "massive win" over West Brom with another step in the right direction against Crystal Palace on Monday.

The Swans climbed out of the Barclays Premier League bottom three following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Brom at the Liberty on Boxing Day, thanks to Ki Sung-Yueng's first-half goal.

Ki tapped home from close range in the ninth minute - his first goal of the season - after Angel Rangel's initial effort rebounded off the post and onto the back of Baggies goalkeeper Boaz Myhill.

The victory was Swansea's first since October, and Britton believes the Swans must now aim to push on and string a run of positive results together.

"It was a massive win for us off the back of a bad run of form," said Britton. "The performance might not have been as good as previous weeks, but we got the three points and that is all that matters.

"To get an early goal was big for us today - it settled the nerves for the team and the fans.

"We needed a little bit of luck with the goal, and thankfully the ball came back off the post and Ki was there to put it in.

"The win was coming. We just needed to keep believing, stay positive and keep doing the right things.

"Now we need to make sure we follow this up with another good performance on Monday away at Crystal Palace.

"There are a lot of games in a short space of time and we want to build on this performance and look to climb back up the league."
