Swansea City legend Leon Britton has given his thumbs up to the six young guns making their mark on the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain.

Academy products and under-23 regulars Brandon Cooper (19), Joe Lewis (19), Ben Cabango (19), Liam Cullen (20), Jack Evans (21) and Jordon Garrick (20) all made the trip abroad as part of Steve Cooper’s touring party.

Britton, now player advisor to the board, was also on hand under the Spanish sun to help out on the training field and witness close up the impression the talented youngsters have been making.

“It’s a great chance for them to show the manager what they can do. He can take a good look at them throughout the week and in the training game we have on Saturday morning," said Britton.

“In fairness, they’ve all settled in well to the group and impressed in training.

"They haven’t looked out of place one bit and I know the manager has been impressed by the standards they’ve shown.

“To come away on tour like this is a great opportunity for them and they’ll gain a huge amount of experience from it.

“And you never know what may happen in the future.

"I remember Ben Davies coming away with us to America as a youngster when Michael Laudrup was manager. It was basically to gain experience, but regular left-back Neil Taylor picked up a bad injury and Ben was straight in.

"He took his chance, kept his place and eventually moved to Spurs and involved in a Champions League final.

“It shows that anything can happen. You just have to be ready if the opportunity comes knocking.’’
