Cameron Congreve calls instructions to a team mate

Swansea City youngster Cameron Congreve hopes he can build on his first start since August and continue to get first-team minutes under his belt.

After a run of Championship appearances, and a start against Oxford in the Carabao Cup, the 18-year-old has recently featured from the bench against Burnley and Bristol City, and then started the FA Cup replay against the Robins on Tuesday night.

The midfielder played 72 minutes under the lights at the Swansea.com Stadium producing a number of bright moments down the right flank.

Having also been in good form for the under-21s his term, Congreve is targeting a strong end to the 2022-23 campaign.

“I was buzzing to start, I couldn’t wait for the game,” Congreve said.

“I really enjoyed it. I think it was a good performance. We dominated the ball throughout and we performed well but we were unlucky to come up short in the end.

“I think every time you get minutes or a start – like I did in the FA Cup – it gives you more motivation and hunger for more.

“Playing with the under-21s has been giving me the chance to get up to full fitness, because I was going through a period where I wasn’t playing as many minutes as I probably needed to, so it’s been really good for me to play there and get minutes and match sharpness.”
