Cameron Toshack has challenged Swansea City Under-23s to demonstrate the strides they are making towards increasing their consistency levels when they host Norwich City this evening (7pm).

You can watch the action LIVE on swanseacity.com and our official Facebook page from 7pm.

The young Swans welcome the Canaries for the Premier League 2 Division Two clash at Landore, aiming to end a run of six games without a win in all competitions.

Despite the results, there have certainly been plenty of positive aspects in the performances of the youthful development side.

They made a hugely purposeful start in their Premier League Cup defeat by Colchester last time out – demonstrating dangerous attacking intent – but were punished for not turning their positive play into goals.

And Toshack has urged his players to show a more clinical edge in what will be their penultimate game of 2019, before travelling to Aston Villa next Monday.

“It’s another really good opportunity for our young players to show what they’re capable of, and that they’re making strides towards getting better and increasing their consistency levels,” the under-23s coach said.

“We’ve got a good young group that are in the early stages of their development. Part of that learning isn’t just about learning the technical and tactical aspects of the game, but also to understand the game management side of things.

“For the most part in recent games, we’ve played really good football but haven’t managed to capitalise on our dominance.

“It’s now just a matter of being a little more clinical and making sure we get our rewards for all the work and build-up play in the middle of the pitch and the final third.

“That’s something we’ve worked hard on in training and the players want to put that right.

“It was a really good contest when we played Norwich away from home earlier in the season. On that occasion, we managed to sneak the win with the odd goal.

“We’ll be looking for similar today – particularly in the first half of that game, because we played really well.

“I would imagine we will have two evenly matched teams and it will be an interesting contest.”
