Carlos Carvalhal has revealed how Swansea City’s efforts on the training ground this week have given him extra belief heading into tomorrow’s crunch clash with Everton.

The Swans are hungry for Premier League points as they play their first home top-flight fixture in six weeks.

Form at the Liberty Stadium has been excellent since Carvalhal took charge, with the Swans looking for a fifth successive Premier League win on their own patch this weekend.

And despite being without a victory in their last three league games – at Huddersfield, Manchester United and West Brom – Carvalhal’s players have looked good in the lead-up to Everton.

“We need points to stay in the Premier League,” the Swans manager said.

“If we had got three points in the last game that would have been better, but we got one.

“Now the Everton game will have a different story. Usually at home we are stronger and usually the fans’ support gives our players more energy.

“We respect Everton. They are a strong team with some fantastic players and a good manager.

“But we have trained very well this week and that gives us optimism.

“One or two players who have maybe been a little bit below have come up to a very good level, which is good, and all the players have been very professional.

“They are all ready to play and they have all shown very good enthusiasm in training this week. Now we must try to win the three points.”
