Cameron Carter-Vickers is ready to take the chance to get a run of starts under his belt for Swansea City following Joe Rodon’s injury setback.

Centre-half Rodon has been an integral part of Graham Potter’s side, but was forced off 20 minutes into the win over Sheffield United after breaking a metatarsal.

That injury is set to keep him out of action for six weeks, opening up an opportunity for Carter-Vickers, who performed strongly alongside Mike van der Hoorn after entering the fray against the Blades.

The on-loan Tottenham defender has had to bide his time with Rodon and Van der Hoorn in such good form, and made his 12th appearance of the season in the 1-0 victory.

Just six of those outings have been as part of the starting line-up, but with Rodon sidelined the United States international hopes he can take his chance should manager Potter entrust him with a starting role.

“I am always ready to play if I get the chance, you make sure you are prepared,” he said.

“Obviously it is disappointing that Joe got injured, you don’t want to see that happen to anyone.

“But I am confident in myself whenever I get the chance to play.

“I feel whenever I get the chance to play, I have played well.

“I think the manage trusts me to play if he needs me. Mike and Joe are good centre-backs and it’s hard to get in the team.

“But I will be ready if the manager calls on me.”
