Charlie Veevers is hungry for more goals after opening his account for Swansea City Under-21s' during their 4-1 victory over Colchester United on Tuesday.

The former Manchester United youth product signed professional terms with the club in July 2022, keeping him in SA1 until June 2024.

And it was a very positive afternoon for the 18-year-old as he marked his return from injury with a first start upper-age group since stepping up from the Under-18s.

Veevers netted the first goal of the afternoon, finishing off after a fine, passing move with Kyrell Wilson before Kristian Fletcher grabbed his second hat-trick in as many games to seal another home victory.

"I'm buzzing to get a goal, especially after being out injured," said Veevers.

"It was a nice little one-two play with myself an Kyrell, he did well to win the ball back down the left and he set me up nicely.

"It feels even better that I scored on my first start back and it's my first at this level. I'm hoping now this is the start of more opportunities and I can contribute to the team.

"I've had a couple of injuries in recent years, and I'm glad I can finally put that behind me and push for more minutes and starts for the team."

The south Wales derby is up next for the young Swans, and Veevers is hoping to contribute once again.

"It's always a big game, and we're all looking forward to it," he added.

"We'll try not let the emotion of the game get to us, but we're in pretty good form right now and I think we can show them how well we can play."
