Chelsea Herbert | Derby win a strong platform for remainder of the season

Chelsea Herbert v Cardiff City

Swansea City Women’s goalkeeper Chelsea Herbert feels their performance in victory over Cardiff City is the perfect platform to build on ahead of their game against Aberystwyth Town this evening (7.45pm).

The Swans face Aberystwyth in their final home game of the season in a rearranged fixture on Wednesday night, having sealed second place in the Genero Adran Premier with a 2-0 win over champions Cardiff City on Sunday.

Herbert wants the Swans to be able to build on that victory over the champions by finishing the league season strongly, with two games remaining before their Genero Adran Trophy final against the Bluebirds.

“The win against Cardiff was a perfect platform for the remainder of the season, beating the champions is a great morale booster and it will have a tremendous effect on us,” said Herbert.

“It was a phenomenal performance, everyone put a shift in and everybody played out of their skin and it showed in the result.

“That is us, that is Swansea City, we have so much character in this team and so much resilience and that performance pretty much sums us up.

“Obviously if we keep a clean sheet we are more likely to win, so I’m really happy to be able to contribute to the scoreline in that way.

“We don’t have anything to play for in the league, but we have that cup final coming up so we can’t afford for our heads to drop in any way.

“Aberystwyth are not a team to underestimate, it’s going to be a tough challenge but one we will be ready for."
