Confidence still high for Matt Grimes

Matt Grimes sees no reason why Swansea City should not head to face Bristol City in a positive frame of mind.

Saturday's Ashton Gate clash pits two of the Championship’s early pacesetters against each other, with the second-placed Swans sitting a place and two points above the Robins heading into the weekend meeting.

Swansea may have suffered their first defeat of the season last time out against Nottingham Forest, but they remain in a strong position with 16 points from a possible 21.

And captain Grimes, while admitting the Swans were below their best against Forest, feels they will have learned a lot from their first setback of the campaign.

“It will be a tough game in Bristol but confidence is still high and we’re still near the top of the league,” he said.

“If you’d given us this position at the start of the season then we would have taken it.

“it’s just about how we learn from the defeat. It’s our first one so we’ll learn a lot.

“We didn’t see the real Swansea City last week, people who have been coming to our games will know that wasn’t our best performance.

“But we’re not going to be at our best every week so we need to find a way to win most games when you’re not at our best.

“We’ve drawn a line under it and moved on. “
