Connor Roberts eyes Liberty opportunity

Connor Roberts wants Swansea City to make the most of back-to-back home fixtures and put their Brentford disappointment behind them.

The Swans saw a three-match unbeaten run come to an end at Griffin Park on Boxing Day, but now return to the Liberty for fixtures against Barnsley on Sunday and Charlton on Thursday.

Steve Cooper’s side have endured a difficult run on home turf, but picked up a much-needed victory against Middlesbrough in their last Liberty game.

And full-back Roberts wants to build on that result and pick up some momentum in their own back yard.

“Hopefully, we can go out and put in a good performance, get a good result and move on from there,” said the Wales international.

“Throughout the season, we’ve only lost two league games away so that’s not too bad.

“However, our performances at home haven’t really been good or consistent, so we need to sort that out.

“Every time you play, you want to perform well and get a good result because it gives you confidence going into the next game. This is no different.

“Everyone’s disappointed about the Brentford performance but we’ll move on.

“We’ve got another game coming up fast and we need to perform. “Whoever the gaffer picks, it’s going to be another big game at home.

“If we can go out there, be ruthless, play the way we want to and score goals we can move forward with the games to come.”
