Connor Roberts | Swansea City prepared for Stoke backlash

Connor Roberts has warned Swansea City they must not take Stoke lightly if they are to get a Liberty Stadium win under their belts tomorrow (3pm).

Saturday’s clash pits together the sides sitting at the top and bottom of the Championship table.

While Steve Cooper’s side have made the best start of any side in the second tier - with victory at Charlton in midweek seeing them reclaim top spot - Stoke have endured a difficult beginning to the campaign having picked up two points from a possible 30.

But Swansea know all too well the dangers of underestimating an opponent, having seen Ipswich triumph at the Liberty 12 months ago after the Tractor Boys had made a winless start to the season.

And defender Roberts is expecting to face a Stoke side desperate to start to turn their season around.

“If you look at their team, they’ve got some really good players,” said the Wales international.

“I think they’ve just been a little bit unlucky with results and individual errors, and they will be coming down to us determined to put things right.

“You cannot underestimate any side in the Championship, any side can beat any other on any given day.

“So we have to focus on our own game. Being back at the Liberty and having the fans behind us, hopefully we can get those three points and stay up there.

“Our goal is to be top of the table going into the international break. The only way we’re going to do that is by performing well and getting a good result on Saturday.”
