Swansea City Under-21s' defender Corey Hurford was a proud man after leading the Swans out in their 3-2 against former club Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Goals from Kai Ludvigsen, Josh Thomas and Kyrell Wilson sealed the win for the young Swans in the latest step of their pre-season preparations.

But for Hurford it was more than just a pre-season friendly, being given the chance to wear the armband having left Ferry in January to make a dream move to the Swans.

Hurford was happy to return to the Cymru South side and appreciated the gesture of being made captain for the fixture.

“It’s a really proud moment, I obviously came from Briton Ferry so it’s nice come back and play here again, I really enjoyed it and it was nice to be captain,” said Hurford, who has also had the chance to train with the senior squad in recent weeks.

“It’s a really nice gesture from the staff, they all obviously know that I come from here so it was really nice of them to give me the opportunity to be captain in this game.

“I knew a lot of the people in the crowd and a lot of the boys playing, so it was really nice to have all my friends and family here.

“I’m buzzing with the result, obviously it’s nice to get some minutes in pre-season, Briton Ferry are a great side, and they gave us a good game and we had to dig in to get the win.

“I can’t wait for the new season to start, obviously it’s going to be a tough season, but we can’t wait to get going.

“I’m feeling fit and ready now and I just can’t wait to get back out onto the pitch for competitive games and see what we can achieve.

“I’ve played a few months for the club now, but this is a big season for me and hopefully now I can do well, keep scoring goals and getting assists as I keep working hard every week and every day in training.”
