Swansea City midfielder Dan Williams has joined Irish club Dundalk on loan for their 2022 season, subject to international clearance.

Williams recently put pen to paper on a new contract with the Swans, extending his stay with the club until the end of June 2023, with the option for an additional 12 months.

He will now get the opportunity to get more senior game time under his belt with the League of Ireland Premier Division side, who are coached by former Arsenal midfielder Stephen O’Donnell.

The League of Ireland season starts on February 18 and will run through to November. The loan spell includes the option of a recall during the summer transfer window.

Williams, 20, impressed when handed his first-team bow in the Carabao Cup games against Reading and Plymouth earlier this season, winning praise from head coach Russell Martin.

He has also been a regular for the club’s under-23s and Wales Under-21s, whilst training with the first team for the majority of the last two-and-a-half seasons.

Williams has been with the Swans since under-eight level. The central midfielder, whose father Nigel was also a scholar in SA1, progressed through the youth ranks before signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2019.
