Darren Davies felt there were plenty of positives to take as Swansea City Under-18s claimed all three points in a comfortable 2-0 win against their Bristol City counterparts.

The Swans led through Zane Myers’ header with 20 minutes played, and they doubled their lead before the break when Iwan Morgan finessed a smart finish past the keeper for his 19th goal of the season.

It was a lead the hosts retained throughout the second half as they claimed victory over the Robins.

Davies praised the real impact the younger members of his squad had on the game, with Callum Deacon - part of the under-15 squad - making his debut off the bench. Meanwhile under-16 players Jacob Cook, Yori Griffith, Thomas Woodward and Caio Ifans also featured.

“There were some real positive moments in today’s game. I’m over the moon for the players," said Davies.

“We played with four under-16s today and one under-15, they gained some good minutes with the older lads, and they did really well.

“Overall, I’m really happy with how today went, and to get so many youngsters on the pitch was great and a testament to what we’re trying to do.

“It was actually a good working week in preparation for today. We spoke about the positives and learning moments from Cardiff and, to be fair, the boys tried implementing everything that we told them.

“Bringing in those young players, it's about balance and game time and really, it’s no different to the older players.

“They brought real energy and positivity today which was tremendous, and that can only be a positive for us as coaches moving forward.

“It’s great to get the clean sheet, and for Ewan [Griffiths]. But when we attack, we attack as a team, and when we defend, we defend as a team.

"And today showed that we gel well and work good as team, it's a great result for the boys."
