Davies: We want to keep climbing

5th March

Mael Davies insists Swansea City Under-23s are intent on building on their eight-game unbeaten league run when they face Everton at Goodison Park in Premier League 2 tonight (7pm).

The 19-year-old Welsh defender helped the young Swans to a 1-0 victory over Burnley in the Premier League Cup last week.

And the academy right-back, who made his development debut against Derby in January, is keen to help the Swans end their season in style.

“We are full of confidence, in great form, and we want to continue that unbeaten run at Goodison Park tonight,” Davies said.

“We are proud of our (fourth-place) league position, but we want to challenge ourselves to push even further and finish as high as we can.

“I am really enjoying the game-time I am getting at this level. I feel my performances are getting better and I want to help the team build on our unbeaten run.

“We’ve had two draws with the league games I have been involved with, so my next target is to get a first league win under my belt to help the side progress further.

“Hard work behind the scenes is going into every game and we are bonding well as a team which is breeding confidence throughout the squad.

“We will take each game as it comes and must not lose focus on our performance levels.”
