Swansea City recorded their fourth consecutive home victory as Middlesbrough were put to the sword on April 6, 2019.

Goals from Matt Grimes, Wayne Routledge and Connor Roberts did the damage for Graham Potter’s side, while George Saville’s late strike was a mere consolation for the visitors.

Fresh from a commanding 3-0 win over Brentford in midweek, the Swans made a confident start at the Liberty with Routledge, Bersant Celina and Daniel James going close to opening the scoring.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 34th minute as James was brought down by Ryan Shotton in the penalty area; allowing Grimes to mark his 50th Swansea appearance by calmly sweeping home from 12 yards.

The Swans doubled their lead just four minutes later. Celina threaded a neat through ball into the path of Routledge, who steadied himself before steering his shot beyond the reach of Darren Randolph.

James almost added a third before the break; racing from just inside his own half before bending a shot whiskers wide of the far post.

Although, the hosts did secure the points 19 minutes from time with Celina’s beautifully weighted diagonal ball met by a sliding Roberts at the far post.

Saville did pull one back as he rifled a volley into the roof of the net with nine minutes remaining, but it was far from enough to deny the Swans a seventh win from 10 in SA1.
