Swansea City overcame Nottingham Forest at the Liberty to book their place in the Championship play-off final on May 16, 2011.

The stakes were huge as the Swans welcomed Billy Davis’ Forest to SA1 for the semi-final second leg.

Brendan Rodgers’ side had drawn the first leg 0-0 thanks to a superb defensive effort at the City Ground, where Neil Taylor was sent off after just two minutes.

They seized the initiative in the tie after 28 minutes on home soil when Leon Britton curled home a brilliant effort from outside the box with his weaker left foot.

Stephen Dobbie doubled the lead just five minutes later, but Forest came back into the contest after the break.

The visitors halved the deficit 10 minutes from time through Robert Earnshaw, who also struck the post late on.

But as Forest threw everybody forward at the death, the Swans broke away from a corner and Darren Pratley guided the ball into an empty net from the halfway line.

The midfielder’s classy finish prompted perhaps the most memorable goal celebration the Liberty has seen, and the Swans were off to Wembley.
