Defender Staitham Bowen has joined Swansea City’s Under-21s, subject to the relevant approval.

Bowen has put pen to paper on a two-year deal in SA1 with an option of an additional 12 months, having most recently been on the books at Premier League side Brentford.

He linked up with the Bees having spent most of his youth career at clubs such as Oldham Athletic, Liverpool and Burnley.

In his first season for the west London club, he made 14 appearances for the under-18s, scoring one goal.

Standing at 6ft 2in, he is regarded as a highly physical and technical player who can add aggression and dominance to the Swansea defence.

Swansea City's head of academy recruitment Paul Robinson said: "He possesses an athletic frame and is physically strong, enabling him to compete effectively in both aerial and ground duels.

"Defensively, Staitham is aggressive in one-on-one situations, reads the game well, and shows good anticipation when defending space.

"Alongside his footballing ability, Staitham has demonstrated a strong work ethic, professionalism and a desire to develop, making him an exciting long-term addition to the club.

"With his combination of physical attributes, technical quality and potential provides an excellent platform for continued progression within Swansea City's performance pathway."
