Double delight for King

1st November

Adam King declared himself delighted with the brace that helped Swansea City Under-21s to a 2-0 win against Forest Green Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Kenji Gorre and Tyler Reid supplied assists as the midfielder struck twice in three minutes to give the academy side victory at The New Lawn Stadium.

The win against the League Two side secured a top-of-the-table finish for the under-21s in Group E South and guarantees the young Swans a home tie in the second round of the competition.

“It was a great game for us and I was delighted to get two goals,” King said.

“Forest Green made things difficult in the first half. We knew the goals were coming, we just had to keep plugging away until we got the breakthrough.

“I have been trying to get in the box as much as I can all season so it was great to take the chances in front of goal. I just managed to beat Kenji to the ball for the second.

“It is no mean feat to have an unbeaten record against EFL sides in this competition. To finish top of the group with three wins from three is a huge boost for us.

“It shows we can achieve at this level and we are all delighted with the result.

“We would like to get further in the competition than we did last season but we must stay disciplined and take it game by game.”
