Emily Thomas | Being able to bounce back shows the spirit in the group

Emily Thomas v Cardiff City Women

Emily Thomas believes the way Swansea City Women responded to the disappointment of seeing their Genero Adran Premier title hopes ended speaks volumes for the spirit of the squad.

The Swans lost to Cardiff City last midweek, but hit back against the champions by securing a 2-0 win against the Bluebirds at Llandarcy on Sunday.

Katy Hosford put the Swans ahead from the spot, scoring her 19th goal of the season after being brought down in the box.

Thomas went on to double the lead after the break, bursting through after a great ball from Robyn Pinder set her through on goal.

“I’m really happy, we wanted to come out and show exactly what we are about, and we did that,” said Thomas.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to have my first league goal, too. It’s been a long time coming and to get it against Cardiff is even better.

“Last Wednesday was really disappointing for us, but we responded and are all looking forward to the cup final against them in a couple of weeks.

“The team spirit in this squad is excellent, we all bring each other up and support each other. To bounce back from Wednesday shows how powerful that team spirit is and the quality we have.

“It was really important for us to get that good feeling back before the cup final with Cardiff."
