Evans delighted with return

25th April

Kieran Evans is looking ahead at the end of a frustrating season after making a long-awaited injury return for Swansea City Under-23s.

The 19-year-old had been sidelined for 10 weeks by an ankle injury before making his comeback for the development squad during Monday’s 1-0 Premier League 2 win over Sunderland.

It was just Evans' second appearance of the season and, although he only played eight minutes from the bench, the midfielder admits his spirits have been raised.

“It was great to be back out there,” Evans said. “All my hard work to get fit again has paid off.

“It’s been a tough couple of months with the injury and operation. Obviously, it’s been frustrating for me having to watch on from the sidelines.

“But it’s not been as bad because of how well the boys have done this year. For me, it’s been a case of working hard and trying to fit back in.

“It’s been a great season for everyone and we can be really pleased with what we’ve achieved. We just need to push on next year.

“Hopefully, I can get more minutes in the Premier League Cup but, if not, I hope the boys can push on and retain the trophy.”
