Fernandez's extra special moment

19th March

Federico Fernandez celebrated more than just his first Swansea City goal when he scored the winner against Aston Villa at the Liberty Stadium.

The Argentina international's effort proved the decisive moment as the Swans secured a crucial 1-0 victory over the Villans.

After Fernandez opened the scoring when he bundled home from Gylfi Sigurdsson's free-kick in the second half, he celebrated by dedicating his milestone moment to his pregnant girlfriend, Florencia.

"I am very happy with my first goal in the Premier League," said Fernandez. "I am expecting a baby in September, so I am very happy for this too.

"I took the ball and ran to the corner where my girlfriend is, and it was a very special moment.

"Overall, maybe it was not the best performance, but in this moment the result is very important.

"It was a very tough game and it's a massive three points for us. The clean sheet is also very important.

"We can play better, but the points are the most important thing. Another game you could play well and lose.

"Now we have another seven 'finals'. We have a week to rest, and then we will work hard for more victories between now and the end of the season."
