Five-star Ladies beat Llandudno

15th September

After a disappointing start to the season, the Swans kick-started their campaign with an emphatic 5-0 win away to Llandudno.

Kelly Newcombe put the visitors ahead with a powerful 25-yard effort, before a sweetly stuck free-kick by Jodie Passmore, and a cool finish by Lindsay Morgan gave Swansea a 3-0 lead, going into the half-time interval.

Fresh legs were introduced for the second-half, with Amiee Hollingshead, Lisa Owen and Emma Beynon coming on for the Swans.

Thanks to the renewed energy brought to the game by the substitutions, the away team continued their dominance, eventually allowing Sarah Adams to extend Swansea's advantage by another two goals.

Adams proved clinical from set pieces, converting one from the penalty spot before another well struck free-kick found the back of the net.

After the game, Swans manager Ian Owen was keen to praise the attitude of his players, following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Port Talbot in the Ladies' last game.

"We created a lot of chances against Port Talbot but couldn't convert them," said Owen. "There was no problem this week; confidence was high and the players attitudes was first class."
