Flynn Downes says Swansea City have to dig deep and find the right response to their midweek disappointment as they prepare to face high-flying Blackburn on Saturday.

The Swans suffered a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Luton on Tuesday evening, where missed chances in front of goal proved costly for Russell Martin’s side.

Attentions now turn to the meeting with Rovers, who head into the weekend sitting in the automatic promotion places after a fine run of recent form.

And, under the Swansea.com Stadium lights and in front on the Sky Sports cameras, midfielder Downes says it’s important the hosts bounce back.

“I think anyone can see that we are putting ourselves in position to get results in games,” he said.

“We have had chances in games, and paid the price for not taking them.

“The schedule has been tough, it’s hectic enough without the rearranged games but every team is in the same position so we can’t use that as an excuse.

“We just have to go out there and implement our style and try and win games.

“It’s massively important that we respond and get back to winning ways on Saturday.

“We need a win and we should have got a result in midweek with the chances we had, but we’ve got to bounce back.

“It’s a big game, Blackburn are flying and are doing well up the top so we need to take our chances and get a positive result.”
