Free-scoring Swans beat Llanfoist

1st October

Swans Ladies Reserves were firing on all cylinders as they ran out 8-0 victors against Llanfoist at the Pen-y-Pound Stadium.

Braces from Katy Hosford, Lowri Ridings, Kristina Ponder and Lisa Owens rounded off an emphatic free-scoring performance by the Swans.

Despite early chances for Llanfoist, the Swans displayed their superiority from the off, dominating the game and probing the opposition defence.

Hosford opened the scoring for the visiting side, putting the gloss on some great play down the flanks with a lovely effort that beat the Llanfoist goalkeeper at her near post.

And only seconds after the restart, Hosford doubled her tally.

The Swans quickly regained possession from kick-off, broke from midfield and fed the ball to Hosford, who smashed the ball home for her and the Swans' second.

Clearly rocked by conceding two in quick succession, Llanfoist offered little resistance as wave-after-wave of Swansea attacks broke.

On the cusp of half-time, Ridings made it 3-0 to the Swans with a composed finish past the goalkeeper, after she found herself in acres of space.

The onslaught continued after half-time as the Ladies returned to the field with the bit between their teeth.

However, Llanfoist showed signs of a mini-revival by hitting the post and the crossbar early on, after putting four players up front.

But the Swans' quality shone through, and Ponder extended the advantage, after she finished off a superb counter-attacking move.

The home side looked deflated and, only moments later, Ponder made it five for the Swans, after they stole back possession straight from kick-off for the second time in the game.

With the result beyond doubt, Swans manager Ian Owen made two changes to his side.

But the substitutions didn't signal an end to Swansea's free-scoring run, as Ridings added her second of the game before Lisa Owens scored two of her own, late on.
