George Byers out to continue unbeaten home run

George Byers wants Swansea City to pick up where they left off on home turf when they welcome Hull to the Liberty Stadium for the start of the new season on Saturday.

The Swans kick off life under new head coach Steve Cooper protecting a long unbeaten run on home turf.

They have not lost a home league fixture in 2019, going 11 games without defeat.

In all competitions there has been just one defeat in 14, and that came against treble winners Manchester City.

Aston Villa were the last visiting team to take all three points on the Liberty, courtesy of a 1-0 win on Boxing Day 2018.

And midfielder Byers, who has shaken off a knock to be in contention to face the Tigers, wants the Swans to continue that excellent sequence of results in SA1.

“You could see towards the end of last season that our home form was really good,” he said.

“We had some excellent results and performances and the fans really responded to the football we were playing and made it a really hard place for the opposition to come to and get a result.

“Of course, that is something we want to keep going, and with us having a home game first up there’s an opportunity to extend that and that has to be our target.”
