Goncalo Franco | We are playing with a positive energy
Goncalo Franco feels head coach Vitor Matos has brought a positive energy to Swansea City, with the midfielder playing a starring role in helping the Swans extend their unbeaten run on home soil to five Championship games.
Franco, who was the club's player of the season last term, turned in an outstanding individual display in the 1-1 draw against Birmingham City.
The Portuguese set up Zan Vipotnik for Swansea's goal, nipping in assertively to beat Kai Wagner to a Cameron Burgess pass before driving forward and delivering a pinpoint cross that the Slovenian turned in for his 13th goal of the season.
Franco could have been on the scoresheet, with James Beadle brilliantly turning his curling strike onto the crossbar, while Ronald and Liam Cullen also hit the woodwork in a game where Patrick Roberts' strike 18 minutes from time saw Birmingham emerge with a point.
While the Swans were disappointed not to record a fifth home league win in a row, there was no disputing the positives within the performance, and Franco is enjoying his football under Matos and his staff.
"I think the coach has arrived here with a very positive energy," said Franco.
"As players we have enjoyed it, and we are enjoying the ideas he has and the way he wants us to play as a team.
"Obviously the results help with that and I think everyone can see the energy and desire we are playing with.
"Of course, wanted the win. It was a tough game against a good opponent. I felt we deserved to win but this is football.
"I was pleased to able the team with an assist, we would rather have had three points, but I think it was another performance to build on."
