Grimes excited by testing run of fixtures

Swansea City have a testing run of games ahead of them, but midfielder Matt Grimes believes these are the challenges Graham Potter's squad should be excited by.

The Swans head to Carrow Road on Friday night to face Championship leaders Norwich, before taking on promotion hopefuls West Brom at The Hawthorns next Wednesday.

That league double-header is followed by the FA Cup quarter-final against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola's team visiting the Liberty with a Wembley semi-final on the line on Saturday, March 16.

Manager Potter has himself acknowledged the eight-day period covering that trio of fixtures will be as testing as any the Swans will face this season.

But midfielder Grimes - who has shown fine form and consistency in the middle of the park - is looking forward to locking horns with two of the best sides in the second tier, and the side widely regarded as the best in England and one of the best in Europe.

"We’ve got a busy period coming up but this is why you play football," said the 23-year-old.

"You want to play in the best games against the best players in the best leagues.

"We’ve got a great test coming up against Manchester City but, before that, we’ve got two tough away games that we need to take points from."
