Russell Martin thanked the Swansea City fans for their fantastic backing as they returned to the Swansea.com Stadium to cheer his side on to a draw against Sheffield United.

A crowd of 15,946 were on hand as the Jack Army were able to attend a league fixture in their masses for the first time since March 2020.

They saw their side play out a goalless draw with a Blades side who are fancied by many to be promotion contenders, and there was again evidence of further strides being made as they adjust and adapt to working under the new head coach.

And the 35-year-old loved his first experience of a proper SA1 atmosphere.

“We had incredible support,” he said.

“From day one when we came in here has been amazing really, and hopefully they can see what we are going to be eventually, and what we are trying to do.

“The noise was tremendous and we are grateful for the support we have had and the opportunity we have had.”
