Ishé Samuels-Smith has his sights set on making the most of his Swansea City opportunity after making a loan move from Chelsea for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old left-back – who has just received his first England Under-20s’ call-up – will provide the Swans with an additional option on the left side of defence and provide cover and competition for Josh Tymon.

Samuels-Smith has been on the books of Everton and Chelsea, working with former England international Leighton Baines at the former, but is now eager for the chance to show what he can do at Championship level.

“The interest has always been there so I am happy we have been able to get it done and I have signed for the club,” he said.

“This is an important loan for me. Football is a game where experience can affect you on loads of ways.

“I’ve been lucky to be at clubs with a lot of history and that demand a lot of young players. The expectations are there and it’s helped me get to where I am today, now it’s up to me to make the most of this opportunity.

“You know in football you are never going to just walk into the team, but obviously you have to fight and battle for a place because it makes the team stronger by doing that. I hope I can do that.”
