James relishing international opportunity

18th May

Daniel James is looking forward to taking another step onto the international stage this summer with Wales Under-20s.

The 19-year-old, who netted nine times for Swans Under-23s this season, is one of seven young Swans selected for the young Dragons to feature at this summer’s Toulon Tournament.

Wales have been drawn in Group B and kick-off their campaign against 12-time winners France on May 30 before facing Bahrain and Ivory Coast.

The winger earned his first caps for Wales U21s in September and can’t wait to represent his country once again.

“To have been selected to play for my country is fantastic,” he said. “It will be great to get out there and play for Wales again.

“We face a tough test against some very good teams and France will be a big challenge. They are one of the best sides in the world and everyone wants to play teams like that.

“Having so many Swans players a part of the team is an added bonus and I think can only help the squad. It shows how well we have done as a team this season.

“All the players full deserve their place and playing in this tournament gives us a great opportunity to take another step up onto an international level.”
