Swansea City goalkeeper Jamie Searle has signed a new contract to extend his stay with the club.

The New Zealander joined the Swans after a spell at Aston Villa last summer. His original deal was due to expire this summer, but he has now put pen to paper on a new one-year agreement, that includes the option for a further 12 months.

Searle featured for the under-23s following his arrival from Villa and will look to press on under coaches Kris O’Leary, Anthony Wright and Martin Davies in the forthcoming campaign.

"I'm really happy to have signed a new deal here at Swansea City," said the 20-year-old shotstopper.

"I've learned a lot already from my time here, and I'm looking forward to developing more and more as the season progresses.

"My team-mates have really helped me settle into life in Swansea, while the facilities and expertise of the coaching staff at the club speak for themselves.

"It's great to sign the new deal, but I'm fully aware there's a lot of hard work ahead for myself as I look to continue developing here."
