Joe Rodon back for Huddersfield clash

Joe Rodon is back in contention for selection for Swansea City’s clash with Huddersfield Town.

The Wales international missed the draw at Hull with a minor knock, and head coach Steve Cooper did not want to risk his fitness with three games a week given his recent return from a long lay-off.

But, as expected, he returned to training early this week and is in the mix to face the Terriers.

“Joe is back,” said Swans boss Cooper.

“He was back in training at the beginning of the week and has looked good.

“He is ready for selection for the weekend.

“He is a really good player, he only wants to get better.

“There is not a complacent bone in Joe’s body, all he wants to do is improve and get better.

“He is a big fan of the club, and it means a lot to him.”

Charlton Mike van der Hoorn

Rodon’s regular centre-back partner Mike van der Hoorn is closing on a return from his knee injury.

It is hoped the Dutchman will be back on the grass next week, with a view to him being fit for the home meeting with West Brom early next month.

George Byers has undergone surgery on the high ankle sprain that ended his season.

The operation was successful and has reduced his time on the sidelines by a few weeks, although he will still be unavailable for the rest of the campaign.

Striker Liam Cullen, meanwhile, is a doubt for Saturday’s game with a late call set to be made on his fitness.
