Joe Rodon hopes his injury woes are behind him after returning to action for Swansea City in the defeat at Stoke.

The defender had not featured for the Swans since the home clash with Brentford back in October after undergoing surgery on an ankle tendon injury.

But he played the final stages at the bet365 Stadium, replacing Connor Roberts after the full-back suffered an injury of his own.

With his three-month absence over – following a similar spell on the sidelines between January and April of last season – Rodon is determined to make up for lost time.

And the Wales international has his sights set on playing a key part in the Swans bid for a play-off spot in the weeks and months ahead.

“It was good to be back, it was a little bit unexpected in how it happened with Connor having to come off and obviously it’s disappointing that it has come in a defeat,” he said.

“But I am delighted to be back out there, and the aim is to help the lads and try and make a massive push between now and the end of the season.

“I am not a good spectator and it was a blow for it to happen after last season, where that injury happened out of nowhere.

“That was the last thing I wanted and for that to happen, it was just terrible.

“It was hard to take but I want to put it behind me now and pick up where left off.”
