Swansea City defender Declan John came off the bench to help Wales secure a 1-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago in their international friendly in Wrexham.

The 23-year-old won his seventh cap for his country, replacing Paul Dummett in the 61st minute at The Racecourse on Wednesday night.

Ryan Giggs' side claimed victory as Ben Woodburn struck in stoppage time to provide a morale-boosting result ahead of Sunday's opening Euro 2020 qualifier against Slovakia.

Connor Roberts was an unused substitute in North Wales, while Daniel James was not in the matchday squad.

There was also Swans' representation as Wales Under-19s suffered a heartbreaking last gasp defeat to the Netherlands.

Brandon Cooper captained the Dragons but could not prevent them falling to a stoppage time strike in their UEFA European Championship qualifier in Hardenberg.

Juan Familio-Castillo had given the hosts the lead in the first half, but Wales looked to have snatched a draw when Christian Norton levelled in the 90th minute.

However, Sepp van den Berg popped up with a header in the second minute of stoppage time for the Dutch.

Ben Cabango missed out with through suspension for Wales, while Cameron Evans was an unused substitute.

Wales next face Spain in Hardenberg on Saturday.

Midfielder Simon Paulet, meanwhile, played 90 minutes as Belgium Under-19s drew 2-2 with their Italian counterparts in Padua.

Two penalties from Lois Openda helped the visitors twice come from behind in their Euro qualifier, with Paulet being substituted in stoppage time.
