Jon Grey | Loss a learning curve for the squad

Swansea City Under-21s coach Jon Grey has urged his side to learn the lessons of defeat at Ipswich after letting a lead slip in their 2-1 Professional Development League loss.

Striker Ruben Davies had opened the scoring for the visitors just after the half-hour mark.

However, the lead was shortlived as the Tractor Boys were quick to respond through Harley Curtis.

Ipswich then gained the lead almost immediately after the break when Matt Ward slotted the ball past Remy Mitchell from the right side of the area.

And Grey is confident his young players will take the lessons on board and continue to work hard to improve.

"We're disappointed, we started off really well and got in to take the lead. We played some real good football and created a lot of chances," said Grey, who coaches the development side alongside Anthony Wright.

"We gave away two poor goals. We have a young back three and they will just have to learn from this at this level. You have to be big and strong to defend properly, which they had done.

"They've been fantastic up until this point, but we are disappointed that we have come away with a loss.

"We've worked hard over the course of the season so far, especially on final third entries and creating chances, which is something that we are doing in abundance in games.

“We are creating chances, we just have to take them. Ipswich defended immensely which stopped us scoring more goals.

"It's a learning curve for the lads, they are young and they'll learn with every single game. We are creating chances, but we're just not finishing them off at the moment."
