Jon Grey takes on new role with Swansea City
Swansea City is pleased to confirm Jon Grey has been appointed as the club’s loans and player pathway manager.
Grey will combine his work with the Swans with his role as coach of the Wales Under-18 men’s team.
Grey’s position will help with the alignment of player development between the club’s academy and the senior set-up, as well as monitoring the progress of the club’s players when out on loan.
His previous association with Swansea stretched over various roles and spells between 1994 and 2023, when he left for the Football Association of Wales to become assistant coach of the Women’s senior team, helping them reach a first major finals in Switzerland last summer.
Grey originally joined Swansea as a scholar when he was 14 before going on to sign a professional contract at the Vetch Field in 1996.
Despite injury forcing him to abandon a career in the professional ranks, he returned to the club in a part-time coaching capacity with the academy in 2009.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to re-establish my relationship with Swansea City, a club which has always been, and will always be, close to my heart,” said Grey.
“I also want to thank all parties for working together to come to an agreement.
“It allows me to work for my club and my country, and I am excited about the future.”
