Josh Key was delighted to get on the scoresheet against Watford, and the defender hopes his goal will give him a platform to build from after admitting he has had a challenging season to date.

Key scored the clincher in the 2-0 victory at Vicarage Road, seconds after coming on as a substitute, turning in a Marko Stamenic cross to seal the three points.

The former Exeter man acknowledged his form has not been what he would have wanted during parts of the campaign, but he feels his confidence is returning under head coach Vitor Matos as he looks to end the season on a high.

"It meant a lot to score. It has been a tough season for me, and really, a tough moment in my career," said Key.

"I was so happy to get the goal, I love the team, the players and the staff and there's a really good mood around the dressing room at the moment. I feel like I'm getting back to myself under the gaffer.

"It was a big relief when it went into the back of the net, and I take every victory as it comes, and that was a big victory for me personally and really added to my confidence.

"Whatever position I play on the pitch, I want to make sure I contribute and I'm delighted I did and we got those all important three points.

"We've been trying to get that away win for a while. We've been putting the performances in, but they haven't been translating in to wins and points.

"We have good form at home, which we want to recreate away too. We're back home on Sunday, and we look forward to continuing this momentum in front of the fans."
