Swansea City Under-23s forward Josh Thomas has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for October.

The 17-year-old, who broke into the development side at the start of the season, has been an ever-present during October under Gary Richards and Cameron Toshack – playing the full 90 minutes of the defeats against Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion.

Despite the results, the first-year scholar has carried a great threat for the young Swans with determined runs down the wing, while he more than held his own against experienced West Brom centre-half Ahmed Hegazi in the showdown at The Hawthorns.

Thomas, who has notched up nine appearances for the development side, has also netted five goals in six games for the under-18s this season.

The other nominees include West Ham United duo Anthony Scully and Nathan Holland, as well as Manchester United forward Largie Ramazani.

Derby County’s Jason Knight and Jahmal Hector-Ingram are also on the shortlist, as is Callum Wright of Leicester City.

The shortlist was decided by the Premier League’s Football Development Panel after PL2 club coaches nominated the best performance by an opposing player in each of their league matches in October.
