Swansea City is delighted to announce that defender Josh Tymon has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer for the club since joining from Stoke City on deadline day in the summer of 2023, and recently brought up a century of appearances in Swansea colours.

Earlier this year the club triggered an option to extend his contract through to 2027, but this new agreement means the left-back will be a Jack until the end of June 2029.

Tymon was named the club’s best newcomer at the end of his maiden season with Swansea, and excelled last term as his pinpoint deliveries from the left flank saw him ranked among the leading chance creators in the Championship, racking up seven assists in the process.

He has carried that form into the start of the new season, and the club is delighted to have secured his services for the next four years.

Head coach Alan Sheehan said: “Josh has been a consistent performer during my time in charge of the team, and we are delighted to tie him down to a longer-term contract.

"He is a quality attacking full-back, who is consistent in how he works. He shows up every day and is a player we know we can rely on.

“We are very pleased he will be part of our squad as we continue to move forward as a group."

Tymon came through the academy ranks with Hull City, having joined them in 2011, and went on to make his senior debut for the Tigers in an FA Cup tie against Bury in January 2016.

His Premier League bow followed later that year against Sunderland, while he also enjoyed a career milestone against the Swans as he scored his first senior goal to help Hull to a 2-0 FA Cup win in January 2017.

Tymon left Hull at the conclusion of that season and made the move to the Potteries with Stoke.

He had loan spells with MK Dons and Portuguese club Famalicao as he sought more senior experience, before making his breakthrough at Stoke during the 2020-21 season.

He made 122 appearances in total for the Potters, scoring four goals and registering nine assists before his move to south Wales.

A former England youth international, Tymon featured for the Three Lions at the prestigious Toulon tournament in 2017.
