Kyle Naughton has recovered from the ankle injury which saw him start the match against Luton Town on the bench, but Jamie Paterson is still a doubt ahead of the weekend’s trip to Middlesbrough.

Paterson hasn’t featured for the Swans since the defeat to Blackburn Rovers on August 6, and has been following a strict programme to help him manage a groin injury.

But Swansea City head coach Russell Martin believes positive news is just around the corner for the former Bristol City man.

“Naughts is fine,” Martin confirmed.

“With Pato, we are hopeful he will be available but if it’s not this Saturday, he will be at Stoke on Wednesday.

“We’ve had to stick to a plan to make sure we get it right with him. We’ve been given a plan by a specialist which we’ve stuck to, much to the frustration of him, me and everyone because we miss having him with us.

“But we’re hopeful that by being patient, it will mean that we’re able to have him available long term.”
