Swansea City defender Kyle Naughton has signed a new one-year contract that will extend his stay with the club until the end of June 2024.

The 34-year-old’s existing deal had been due to expire later this month, but he has agreed terms which will see him bring up nine years in Swansea colours.

Naughton is fast closing in on 300 Swansea appearances, having arrived from Tottenham in January 2015.

An important performer in the Premier League, his experience and nous have proved invaluable over recent seasons, during which he has played as a centre-back, full-back, wing-back and midfielder.

The former England Under-21 international began his career with Sheffield United where, having joined the Blades’ academy at the age of seven, his impressive performances saw Harry Redknapp take him to Tottenham in 2009.

While on Spurs’ books, he had loan spells with Middlesbrough, Leicester and Norwich before firmly establishing himself at White Hart Lane prior to his move to SA1.

Naughton previously captained the Swans in the Carabao Cup meetings with Northampton Town and Cambridge United in 2019.
