Swansea City Ladies ended their Welsh Premier Women’s League season on a high with a 5-0 victory over Cyncoed Ladies at Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Sunday.

The Swans raced out of the blocks and opened the scoring in the fourth minute through an impressive Sophie Hancocks volley following a fine cross from Jodie Passmore.

Shortly after, a sharp Sarah Adams effort and a Katy Hosford free-kick were collected by Cyncoed’s keeper to keep the score at 1-0.

It did not take long for the home side to score a second as Stacey Webber doubled the Swans’ lead with a great strike in the 16th minute.

An excellent strike from Hosford from out wide rattled the woodwork on the 35-minute mark before a powerful shot from Passmore was denied by Cyncoed’s keeper.

Swansea’s top-scorer Stacey John extended the Swans’ lead in the 42nd minute when she slotted home a low shot in the bottom right corner.

In the 60th minute, after less than one minute on the pitch, substitute Katie Davies netted from the edge of the box to make the score 4-0.

After some impressive skilful play, a half-volley from Passmore skimmed the crossbar in the 70th minute.

Then, as the game was approaching the final whistle, Passmore latched onto the end of a Hosford cross and fired home to seal the 5-0 victory for the 2016/17 WPWL Champions.

Passmore, who netted her 22nd goal of the season in all competitions, was delighted with the title-winning campaign.

“I’m extremely happy to be a part of this squad," she said. "We thoroughly deserve this reward, staff included, as we’ve worked tirelessly on and off the pitch throughout the season.

“It always feels great to get on the scoresheet, but ending the season on three points and lifting the title is what mattered most."
